The Guestbook is Back :)

Monday, August 24, 2009 8:43:17 AM Categories: Site Upgrades

Hi Alumni,

Back by popular demand, Kathi and my dad (Bill) thought it would be nice keep the Guestbook feature up and running in case some of your competitors stop by and would like to drop you a line.  So I moved the "Old Guestbook Forum" I created into a new forum called "Guestbook" and setup anonymous posting in the "Sign Our Guestbook" thread.

If you would like to be notified by email when someone posts in the "Guestbook" forum (or any forum for that matter), sign-in and click on the "Mail" icon (in the "Notify?" column) next to the forum name.  This will display a checkbox that you can check to be notified when someone posts in your guestbook.  Click the save button to save your notification changes.  If you wish to disable notifications later just sign-in and uncheck the box under "Notify?" for any forums that you previously enabled email notifications.

Best wishes,

Mike (webmaster)

New Site Upgrades - Discussion Forums and other features now available

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 3:16:39 PM Categories: Site Upgrades

Attention Alumni,

I have been making some enhancements/upgrades to your site and wanted to inform you that I replaced the dated 'Guestbook' feature with a new Forums feature.  Now you can all collaborate together as a group through the forums, be notified of responses, and even connect to topic RSS feeds (if you are familiar with this technology - 'Live Bookmarks').  Please Note that I saved all of the previous guestbook entries in a forum called 'Old Guestbook Entries'.  However, I would use the general discussion forum to collaborate in the future.  You will need to register for an account by clicking the 'Register' link at the very top of the page.  After your account has been verified via email, you will be able to post in the forums section.

I have added a number of new technologies to your site that can be used in the future if needed.  For example, an online Store to sell things like tickets & memorabilia items.

I hope you enjoy the new site features & enhancements.  I'll be working with Kathi and my dad on adding/adjusting some of the new features so please contact use the "Contact" page if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Mike Knauer

St. Mary's Parish and School Reunion November 6th, 7th & 8th 2009

Thursday, August 6, 2009 12:54:32 PM Categories: Event News

Hi!

Many of you may have received "Save the Date" postcards announcing the St. Mary's Parish and School Reunion to be held November 6, 7, and 8, 2009.  It was part of a massive mailing to let people know that the reunion is being planned and to track down as many alumni and parishioners as possible to attend.  More than 3,500 postcards were mailed, but majority of the names and addresses are anticipated to have been incorrect since they are based on old, incomplete files.  Therefore, just because you may have received the postcard doesn't mean that the reunion committee has the most current or best information on you or your family members.

Please spread the word about the reunion to as many of your family, friends, and past classmates about the planned activities and ask each of them to contact Neil Cashen at neil.cashen@yahoo.com with their current contact information.  Neil will be sending out updates and reunion details in the future and email transmissions are the fastest, cheapest way to keep everyone informed.  There is also a Facebook page which will be updated as necessary but you need to supply personal contact information to Neil if you want to be updated directly.  (I will also be issuing updates from future committee meetings, but the best way to get information is from Neil since I will be away most of September and October.)

The planned agenda includes:

Friday night:  Boy Scout Troop 133 activities

Saturday: 6:00-10:30 pm, all classes school reunion
-  parking at Cathedral; shuttle service to be provided
-  Church Hall, Cafeteria, and Gymnasium, background music by Rob Bruns
-  performance by Mason Dixon Percussion Ensemble representing the St. Mary's Lancers Alumni (with special thanks to John, Billy, Danny, and Mo!)
-  further details (cost, etc.) to be determined

Sunday:  Mass and parish activities

The last all classes reunion in 1996 drew about 850 people.  It is anticipated that this reunion will be even better attended, especially with the school's recent closing.  Your help in making that possible is appreciated.

Pass the word about the reunion to as many people as possible.  Please make plans to attend it and to support the Mason Dixon line's performance.  (They'll be doing what the rest of us just remember having done!)

Thanks!
Kathi
